Management for health professionals

Excelling as a clinician often opens the door to management responsibilities, but success in clinical practice doesn’t always translate into confidence in leading teams, managing resources, or overseeing operations. The Management for Health Professionals online course is designed specifically for health professionals stepping into management roles, helping you navigate the shift with clarity and capability. You'll gain practical skills in areas such as rostering, budgeting, resource allocation, and people management - empowering you to lead effectively and make informed decisions in your new role.

The course contains four modules:

  • Module A: The healthcare system
  • Module B: Managing and influencing
  • Module C: Managing people
  • Module D: Managing general resources and finances

By the end of this course, you’ll have a well-rounded understanding of the healthcare management landscape in Australia and New Zealand. You’ll explore how organisational governance, funding models, and strategic priorities shape your role, while developing practical skills in leadership, workforce planning, rostering, budgeting, and resource management. The course also builds your capacity to manage conflict, navigate workplace dynamics, and lead with influence - even in your absence. With tools to improve resilience, time management, and financial literacy, you’ll be equipped to step confidently into a management role in the health sector.

It is estimated that you will need to spend approximately 1.5 hours per module (six hours in total) on this course. You don’t have to complete the course in one sitting.

clinical feedback

Effective feedback is essential to individual growth, team development, and collaboration across healthcare disciplines. While all health professionals give and receive feedback, its impact - positive or negative - depends on how well the process is understood and applied.

The Clinical Feedback online course explores the principles of effective feedback within the healthcare context. You’ll learn how to give constructive feedback, how to request and receive it to support your own development, and what makes feedback impactful—or unhelpful. With practical insights tailored to real-world clinical environments, this course equips you with the skills to use feedback as a tool for learning, improvement, and better teamwork.

The online course contains three modules:

  • Module A: Seeking feedback on your performance
  • Module B: Working with the feedback you receive
  • Module C: Providing effective feedback to others

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to seek, give, and receive feedback effectively in a healthcare setting. You’ll learn to identify your feedback preferences, overcome common barriers, and apply practical strategies to make feedback a tool for growth. The course also covers evaluating and acting on feedback, navigating challenging conversations, and fostering a culture where constructive feedback is valued and modelled.

It is estimated that you will need to spend approximately two hours per module (six hours in total) on this course. You don’t have to complete the course in one sitting.

Clinical data analytics

Understanding how to analyse, interpret and implement change resulting from clinical data insights is an essential skill for healthcare providers.

The Clinical Data Analytics online course offers a foundational introduction to the role of data in healthcare quality and safety. Designed for health professionals across all disciplines, it builds your understanding of how to interpret and apply clinical data to support informed, safe decision-making. Through the story of Arthur—a patient moving through the hospital system—you’ll explore real-world scenarios that highlight the impact of data on patient outcomes. This course is ideal for anyone looking to confidently engage with clinical data in their everyday practice.

The online course consists of two modules:

  • Module A: Introduction to data and clinical analytics: This module will give you an appreciation of how far clinical data has advanced over the years. You will gain a better understanding of where to find clinical data and how to analyse it for better patient outcomes.
  • Module B: Applying clinical data analytics in healthcare: This module will provide you with the tools on how to interpret and choose the best method to present clinical data. This will enable you to use the data to monitor and improve the quality and safety of the healthcare you provide. 

By the end of this course, you’ll have a clear understanding of clinical data analytics and its role in improving healthcare quality and safety. You’ll learn how to select and apply appropriate data and methods for your setting, avoid common pitfalls such as poor data quality or ethical issues, and effectively present and interpret data. The course equips you with the skills to use data to identify areas for improvement and support evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
