The Clinical Governance online course provides a clear introduction to contemporary clinical governance - its evolution, purpose, and practical application. Through real-world case studies and analysis of Australasian systems, you’ll explore how to strengthen clinical governance and improve patient safety across healthcare settings.
The course contains three modules:
- Module A: Introduction to clinical governance
- Module B: The role of quality and safety in healthcare
- Module C: Credentialing and professional development in clinical governance
By the end of the course, you’ll understand how clinical governance applies to your role, team, and organisation. You'll gain tools to enhance patient safety, manage risk, partner with consumers, and apply governance principles to drive quality improvement and accountability in everyday practice.
It is estimated that you will need to spend approximately two hours per module (six hours in total) on this course. You don’t have to complete the course in one sitting.
culture and collaboration
A positive culture is critical to safe, respectful, and effective care. The Culture and Collaboration online course explores the real-world drivers of workplace culture - how teams collaborate, how feedback is delivered and received, and how unprofessional behaviour is addressed. Designed for those who want to lead by example, this pathway supports a proactive approach to building psychological safety and accountability in healthcare settings.
The online course consists of five modules, four of which are required to be completed:
- Module A: Who am I? (Internal culture)
- Module B: Cultural competence
- Module C: Organisational and team culture
- Module D: Australia - a diverse nation
OR - Module E: New Zealand - Aotearoa - The land of the long white cloud
OR - Module F: Pacific Island Countries and Territories - Cultures, Traditions and Heritage
By the end of this course, you’ll understand the critical role culture plays in delivering safe, high-quality care within a clinical governance framework. You’ll explore how organisational and team cultures influence behaviour, decision-making, and collaboration, and learn to identify cultural blind spots that may impact patient outcomes. The course also encourages reflection on your practice, offering insights into how culture affects patients and the healthcare workforce in Australasia’s multicultural context. You'll gain tools to analyse workplace culture and foster more inclusive, collaborative, and effective care environments.

Effective leadership in the healthcare setting
Effective leadership is essential to delivering safe, high-quality patient care, and poor leadership is widely recognised as a key contributor to adverse outcomes. In today’s complex healthcare environment, all professionals—regardless of title or role - will be called upon to lead at various points in their careers.
While leadership may come naturally to some, it is a skill that can be developed with the proper guidance and support. The Effective Leadership in the Healthcare Setting online course introduces the core values and behaviours that underpin strong, ethical, and impactful leadership.
The course contains three modules:
- Module A: Identifying your leadership potential
- Module B: Effective leadership on the front line
- Module C: Leading innovation and change
By the end of this course, you’ll clearly understand leadership within the complex, multidisciplinary context of healthcare. You’ll explore the qualities of effective leaders, reflect on your leadership capabilities, and learn how to support and lead others, even without a formal leadership title. The course also examines leadership styles, the dynamics of followership, and the influence of innovation and design thinking in driving change. You’ll gain practical strategies to develop your leadership skills, navigate change, and contribute to meaningful organisational improvement.
