Clinical Governance Frameworks: Making Responsibility Real
Clinical Governance Frameworks: Making Responsibility Real

When people talk about clinical governance frameworks, the conversation often turns to big documents, detailed diagrams, or long lists of standards. At AICG, we wanted to create a framework that is deliberately operational. It is designed so that boards, executives, clinicians, support staff, and consumers can immediately see where it fits, what it is responsible for, and how it can contribute to better outcomes.

Meeting standards and KPI's but failing care
Meeting standards and KPI's but failing care

What if the drive to meet standards and deliver on your KPIs is failing to deliver quality care? What if, by meeting the standards and your Statement of Priority performance indicators, you inadvertently make care worse? In this webinar, Kylie outlines how the drive to meet standards and KPIs can actually lead to poor patient outcomes, and how to safeguard against this.

Enhancing root cause analysis with simulation: A safety II approach to clinical governance
Enhancing root cause analysis with simulation: A safety II approach to clinical governance

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a valuable tool in healthcare for identifying systemic factors that contribute to errors. However, its traditional deterministic approach often focuses on finding a single root cause, typically human error, which can limit its effectiveness in preventing future adverse events. This narrow focus is compounded by hindsight bias, where the outcome influences how past decisions and actions are judged. As a result, conventional RCA can inadvertently damage organisational culture by attributing blame instead of addressing system-level issues.

In this webinar, Health Roundtable discussed the role of risk-adjusted benchmarking and how it works, examples of where data has been used to improve clinical governance, how to make data accessible to clinicians and evidence to make the case for improvement.

Across human services, organisations struggle with the right response to quality data. Too often we spend time and resources ‘fixing’ the right thing – or addressing the right thing but not fixing it.
